Dr. Lila Fahlman School swung the doors to welcome new students in September, 2017. The new school is a welcome addition to the Allard Community. The first week of school saw families are walking, programs starting up, and lots of excitement in the neighbourhood. Stay up-to-date by following the School’s Facebook Page.
Here are a few things you may not know about Allard’s K-9 School:
Clean and Green!
The Allard school is LEED Registered with the intention to certify, which means it:
- Has a healthier indoor environment
- Has better indoor air quality
- Conserves water and energy
- Has more natural daylight
When you walk by the school and read the sign above the front doors, be inspired! Dr. Lila Fahlman was the first Muslim woman awarded the Order of Canada in 2001. She was also the first Canadian woman to earn a PhD in Educational Psychology. Dr. Fahlman’s legacy lives on through the school’s name, and of course in the broader community.
Serving the Heritage Valley Community
This public school was built to serve the Communities of Heritage Valley, including Allard, Cavanagh, and Callaghan. Up to 900 students from kindergarten to grade 9 will be able to enjoy this community facility every year!
Better Drop-Off Design
This school was designed with parking and neighbours in mind. It has 2 drop-off lanes to alleviate traffic build-up. Much safer for students, too.
